welcome to my crib, literally

Four months into this motherhood thing and I realized I’ve never shown any details about Adelynn’s nursery! I feel like it will always be a work in progress because as she grows, the room will grow with her. I don’t even know what “style” we would call the design inspiration. Let’s go with a modern farmhouse with hand me down furniture??? I am, by NO means, a design expert but it came out looking fine to me! My main goal of showing you around is to link some must-have products for us, in case they end up helping you too!

Come on, follow me!

Some use the nursery/crib right away, others don’t step foot in the nursery until many months in! We transitioned Adelynn from the bassinet in our room to her crib around 8 or 9 weeks. Those first two months with her are, honestly, such a daze. She loved to keep us awake and eating almost every hour. When we moved her to her crib, she seemed to sleep a little better without our presence in the room. We’ve, of course, still had many sleepless nights thrown in there, but I think she is starting to really like her room!

I say all this as hope for those of you struggling with sleep. It will never be perfect, but it does get better.

When there is too much clutter and too many products to choose from I get overwhelmed. I found it was also adding to the postpartum anxiety I was already experiencing. In the first month or two, we found what works for us and narrowed it down so we just have the things we need! As I prepared for Adelynn’s arrival, I I had no idea where to start and what to use, so figured I would go through and link a bunch of things for you guys as we take the tour!

Right when you walk in we’ve got her changing station to the right. We live by this thing. It’s got all the necessities stored in those drawers! We spend lots of time here changing her diaper throughout the day, her little lotion massage in the evening, brushing her hair, giving any medicine she needs.

This changing station is truly the heartbeat of the room!

Come along now, lots more to see!

As we keep going around the perimeter of the room, we’ve got our little “cuddle corner.”. We spend lots of time here nursing, reading, singing, and rocking.

Fun fact: the design inspiration for the nursery came solely from the throw blanket hanging over the chair hehe!

The drawers hold more books, burp cloths, and all of my nursing/pumping supples.

We put an Alexa echo in her room so we are easily able to play music and control the lights (Michael wanted to put smart bulbs in the nursery lamps).

Just recently, we started using the Frida Baby humidifier/diffuser. She was getting super dry skin and eczema, but once we started using this I noticed her skin improving. Can’t wait to use it as a diffuser with some essential oils as well!

The show stopper is the chair, I’ve got to tell you about it. It swivels, reclines, and rocks. We love this thing. It was so easy to assemble, is very comfortable, has great arm rests for good support while holding the baby, and moves with you wherever you want to go. The best part about it is, we found it on Wayfair for a great price compared to others on the market. I can’t find the link right now but will update the post when I get my hands on it!

Moving right along, the opposing corner is a little shelf with knick-knacks and mommy’s first real ballet shoes. I wanted to bring some “life” to the room with a plant. We went with a artificial fig tree plant. I’ve got a brown thumb. I completely admit it, so artificial it was. I wanted to keep the room light and bright, but I know many moms swear by black out curtains. We have had success thus far with the blinds and sheer curtains, but we will see how long that lasts. We’ve learned that things can always change haha. Especially right when you feel like you’ve got it down..

I spy a sleeping baby in her crib, wearing her Nested Bean Zen One Swaddle Sack! The picture shows her crib, play corner, and closet.

Fun fact: all the furniture is either hand me down or gently used, except for the closet shelving/rack unit!

We got her crib off Facebook marketplace for about the third of the original price and the other furniture came from a childhood room in Mike’s dad’s house. We got a Greenguard Gold Certified Graco mattress and the adorable animal prints above her crib off Amazon to freshen the space up!

We have absolutely loved our Nanit camera monitor for when she’s asleep in there. It analyzes her sleep, can track her breathing, alerts you when sound or movement is made, and can play white noise or music,

I’ll put a video tour of the space below. Like I said, our set up is nothing special but wanted to be a resources for products and items we use on a daily basis! Hopefully this helps someone out there and if not, enjoy the tour!

Talk to you again soon,

xoxo Cali
